Chrysomela populi is a species of broad-shouldered leaf beetles belonging to the family Chrysomelidae, subfamily Chrysomelinae.
Length is about 10-12 mm. Head and pronotum are black, while elytra are bright red, with a black stain at the base.
It can be distinguished from Chrysolina grossa by its shorter antennae and less estensive pronotum.
It feeds on plants of the Salicaceae species, especially Populus and Salix species.
It is found in most Europe.
