Christopher Gattelli is a choreographer, performer, and director for the theatre. He has been nominated for the Tony Award for Best Choreography for South Pacific and the Drama Desk Award, Outstanding Choreography for Altar Boyz. He won the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Choreograper for Altar Boyz and Bat Boy: The Musical.
He grew up in Bristol, Pennsylvania, started dancing at the age of 11 and is a "Star Search" Grand champion.[1]
He has choreographed several special benefit concerts, including Chess (2003), Hair (also co-director, Actor's Fund, 2004),[2] and "Chance and Chemistry: A Centennial Celebration of Frank Loesser" (also directed, Actors Fund, October 2009).[3]
His work as choreographer for Broadway includes Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me (2006), High Fidelity (2006), The Ritz (2007), Sunday in the Park with George (Revival, 2008), South Pacific (2008), and 13 (2008).
His off-Broadway choreographic work includes Adrift in Macao (2007, also Philadelphia, PA 2005), How to Save the World and Find True Love in 90 Minutes (also director, 2006), I Love You Because (2006), Altar Boyz (2005) and Bat Boy: The Musical (2001).[4] In regional theatre he is the choreographer for The Baker's Wife (Papermill Playhouse, Millburn, New Jersey, 2005), Tom Jones (2004), tick, tick...BOOM! (2004, also London Fringe, 2005), and O. Henry's Lovers (2003). He directed Jim Henson's Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas at The Goodspeed Opera House, Connecticut, 2008.[5][6] He is the director of the musical spoof SILENCE! The Musical, which ran in 2005 at NYCFringe and is scheduled to open in London in January 2010.[7]. He is in charge of musical staging for Little_Miss_Sunshine_(musical).[8]
As a performer, he appeared in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (Revival) and Cats.
Gatelli was the resident choreographer for The Rosie O'Donnell Show.[9]
