Christianity is a minority in Shaanxi, a province of China. Christianity in Xi'an includes St. Francis Cathedral of Xi'an. Churches in the province have grown rapidly.[1] Catholicism has entered Shaanxi before 1700.[2] In 1875, George King and Frederick Baller of the China Inland Mission became the first Protestant missionaries to visit Shaanxi.[1] In 1892, Arthur Gostick Shorrock[3] and Moir Duncan[4] founded the Sianfu Mission, in present day Xi'an, Shaanxi Province.[5][6][7] A Shaanxi Bible School exists since 1988.[8] Zan Jia Cun is a village with a Catholic majority and which is the origin of priests. [9] Xiaoqiaopan is another village with a catholic majority. [10] Shaanxi has persecution of Christians.[11]
