Spark Networks (AMEX: LOV) owns many special-interest online personal sites, such as JDate.com, BlackSingles.com, ChristianMingle.com and LDSMingle.com; it also owns the general-interest site Spark.com. Spark was started in 1997 by Joe Y. Shapira.[1] David Siminoff formerly served as Chief Executive Officer. It is based in Beverly Hills, California.
Spark Networks has been the subject of some criticism for its perceived discriminatory policies, which systematically exclude LGBT users from seeking relationships with same-sexed partners. Other religious dating services have faced similar criticism.[2]
