Toyota to create an in-house radio station in order to provide comfort and entertainment for the hospital’s increasing number of extended stay patients.[3] Known as Radio Lollipop, the program allows children at the hospital to experience the fun and excitement of being on the air within hospital walls, and creates a unique interrelationship between patients.[4]
Mobile Giving Campaign
In 2008, Ryan Seacrest of Los Angeles based radio station KIIS FM hosted a live fundraising event for Radio Lollipop, asking listeners to donate by sending a text message to the short code 90999 with the keyword CHOC.[5] The station was flooded with mobile donations after G.O.T. Toyota President R.J. Romero told listeners that he would match donations up to $10,000. CHOC’s mobile donating campaign was created in partnership with the Mobile Giving Foundation and Mgive.[6]
