Chief product officer

Chief product officer

Chief product officer (CPO), sometimes designated as chief production officer is a corporate title referring to an executive responsible for various product-related activities in an organization. Most often the position reports to the chief executive officer.

Role

A CPO is responsible for all product-related matters. Usually includes product conception and development, production in general, innovation, project management and product management. In many IT/telecommunications companies, this position is organically higher than the chief technical officer and includes release management and production. In small and mid-sized companies the CPO can also play the role of the COO.
