José María Giménez Pérez (born 25 April 1980), aka Chema, is a Spanish footballer who plays for Xerez CD in the Spanish second division, as a goalkeeper.

Football career

Born in Orihuela, Comunidad Valenciana, Chema started his career with amateur and modest outfits, moving in 2006–07 to Xerez CD, in the second division.

A backup in his first two years (being second-choice to French Stéphane Porato in his second season), he then became an undisputed starter, playing in 41 matches as the Andalusia outfit reached the top flight for the first time ever.

In La Liga, he backed up Brazilian Renan, newly-signed from Valencia CF, his first match only coming on 7 March 2010, in a 4–2 win at neighbours Málaga CF; after retaining his post the following two games, he suffered an injury.
