Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) is a professional management accounting credential to be issued beginning on January 31, 2012[1]. It is intended to be a worldwide standard credential for management accountants in business, not-for-profit and government organizations. The issuing body will be a joint venture owned by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the (British) Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). The credential will be issued to AICPA voting members who have management accounting experience and commit to a program of continuing professional education. Beginning in 2015, AICPA voting members who desire to obtain the CGMA credential will have to pass a specialized examination. Members of CIMA who hold that organization's professional credentials (ACMA/FCMA) may also use the CGMA credential.[2]
