Characters of Taiko no Tatsujin

This following are fictional game characters in the Taiko no Tatsujin series.

Characters

Don

Don (和田どん, WadaDon^?) is the main protagonist of the Taiko no Tatsujin series. He is a taiko drum with a white edge and four legs, a red face (which appears to be moly orange), and a light blue body. Don's dream is to share the beauty of Taiko with the world. Three years have passed since he moved into the Wada House, and he's become quite popular around town. He has a monstrous appetite and sometimes has expensive shopping at the Wada House which may take over for the worst. He usually ends his sentences with "Ta-don", meaning "Ba-dum" in Japanese. His nickname is "Don-chan". The voice of Don is Narahashi Miki.

Katsu

Katsu (和田かつ, WadaKatsu^?) is Don's twin brother, and the main antagonist of the Taiko no Tatsujin series. Like Don, Katsu is also a taiko drum with a white edge and four legs, but Katsu has a blue face, and a red body. He apparently is every bit as rambunctious as his brother. Three years have passed since he moved into the Wada House with Don. He has been sometimes realized he's not the main character. He also eats like a hog, but he sometimes has a tendency to hold back more than his brother. Like Don, he usually ends his sentences with "ta-don". His nickname is "Kat-chan".

Tamashi

The Tamashi (たまし^?) is the most important soul of the Taiko no Tatsujin series. Upon entering two flawlessly designed Taiko drums, the Tamashi gave life to Don and Katsu. Without these souls, Don and Katsu would conventionally be mere taiko drums. Various types of Tamashi exist. However, if players miss a note in Taiko Mode, they exhale "Dispirited" Tamashis.

Master Bachio

Master Bachio (バチお先生, Bachio Sensei^?) is a couple of drumstick-shaped creatures which they may look like they are two characters, but they are actually one character together. They are always inseparable. Master Bachio teaches players how to play the Taiko in the "Tutorial" mode. The sharp-eyed one, which appears to look like the male one, prides himself on his grace and agility. The bulging-eyed one, which appears to look like the female one, is actually quite big in the world of water treading.

Inu

Inu (和田いぬ, WadaInu^?) is the Wada household's kind, friendly, and courteous dog. He loves to wear a hood. Inu risks his life performing death-defying balancing acts in the "Reach the Helicopter" mini game. He usually appears in most releases, but often attempts to make wild dances to music.

John

John (和田ジョン, WadaJion^?) is Inu's younger brother, also a friendly and courteous dog, John is a festival dancer. He does what motivates him precisely to perform the stunts he does in the "Reach the Helicopter!" and the "Wada House Night Fever" mini games. He only appears as player 2 for certain mini games.

Tetsuo

Tetsuo (和田テツオ, WadaTetsuo^?) is the son in the Wada household. At six years of age, he's already too much for anyone to handle. He attends a taiko class for a taiko lesson, but Tetsuo often does truancy, so he skips class in order to go to festivals. In the "Watermelon Eating Contest" mini game, it may seem that he usually enjoys hitting Don and Katsu, as they eat the watermelon or spit out the seeds.

Hana

Hana (はなちやん, Hana-chan^?) lives next door to the Wada House. She is only one year older than Tetsuo, and acts like his older sister. She became friends with the Wada family when they were talking about Ms. Mariko and Katsu at the beach.

Granpa

Granpa is the 75-year old grandfather of the Wada household. He is retired from work, he spends most of his time looking after his grandson Tetsuo and/or his granddaughter Hana. He asked Unagi to take everyone to the beach so he could fortunately luckily recover from his back pains.

Mimizu

Mimizu is WadaDon's pet worm. She sleeps in a flowerpot and does not have a tongue so she doesn't speak, but expresses her feelings with body language. She is an excellent advisor when it comes to romance. This veritable doctor of love single-handedly manages all of Donko and the Mariko quartet's relationship troubles.

Neko & Shaxy

The Neko/Shaxy Duet is two peas in a pod. They are apparently usually inseparable and share everything on scale of 50 to 50 is how much. Neko dislikes swimming, so they always stay at the beach hut. Neko is Hana's pet cat who lives next door to the Wada House. Shaxy is a ladle who was hailed from Miyajima. He was given to Hana as a souvenir. The word "Victory" in katakana is printed on the back.

Lantern Eel

Lantern Eel (ちょうちんうなぎ, Chouchin Unagi^?), who has a lantern on his head. He travels throughout the country, running a stand at various festivals across the land. He puts on a beautiful fireworks performance in the "Fireworks Festival" mini game. He is a yet somewhat very dependable figure, Unagi takes everyone to the beach. He often attempts to perform dances to music.

Donko

Donko (どん子^?), also known as "Donko-chan" is a lovely maiden who came to life how Don and Katsu did. She later followed them into Tokyo. However, she was taking too long getting ready for the North American release of Taiko, so she wasn't included. She apparently has a crush on Don.

Kame

Kame is a turtle that can be spotted a mile away by the apron he wears. He helps out in the mini game, "Fireworks Festival!" Kame greatly admires Unagi, who is also his partner, who he calls "Bass". Some players think they mean "Boss" due to wrong spelling. He apparently has a female-like high-pitched voice.

Mask Kid

The Mask Kid (お面小僧, Omen Kusou^?) is a teddy bear that wears a mask, including a fox, man, and a woman mask. He is severely shy, but he however, never remove his mask. He recently decided to attempt a more aggressive dance to the music.

Ika

Ika is a squid that can apparently begin worrying if they'll look just as appetizing as calamari. They are skilled swimmers, the Ika have labeled themselves "Children of the Sea." There are three colors: Blue, Pink, and Yellow.

Dancing Lion

Chomping his teeth as he moves, the Dancing Lion performs hypnotic dances to the music. No one knows what sort of creature lies underneath the costume. A rival of the Kabuki Kids, the Dancing Lion in continuously striving to improve his dances.

Namahage

Namahage (なまはけ^?) is a demon that may appear to be have an intimidating appearance but is actually a good character at heart. No one knows what sort of creature lies underneath the costume. It's also unclear exactly how good a person he is as well.

SuzuDon

SuzuDon are bells that chime off prayers of thanks at shrines. They've been a part of Unagi's family for as long as they can remember. There are two colors: Yellow and Metal Green.

The Takoyaki Brothers

The Takoyaki Group is 10 Takoyaki brothers that were hailed from Osaka. They apparently enjoy being pricked with toothpicks. There are actually 11 brothers in total, but the other one however, was not hailed with the others. The other brother actually has a lighter color than everybody else, which this may not make sense.

The Festival Team

The Festival Team are four colored chicks that hatched out of colored eggs. They all first appeared in the second episode of the clay anime series when MechaDon was trying to replenish energy with eggs Unagi, however, apparently constantly hollers, "Don't dirty your colors!" but he takes good care of them.

Goldfish

These goldfish are from a goldfish-scooping game stall. They swim around excitedly even after being scooped up. All of them are exstatic over their spot in the limelight this season.

Lanterns

Lanterns are light up the streets and booths at festivals. Their faces may not show any emotions, but these lanterns are very diligent workers. Unagi constantly says, "It isn't enough just to provide light!" but takes good care of them as well.

Ms. Mariko

Ms. Mariko is the name of the group for the four colored water balloons. Their tear-filled smile is adorable. They became friends with Hana at the beach. One of them, possibly the blue one, apparently has a crush on Katsu.

The Cotton Candy Quadruplets

The Cotton Candy Quadruplets are four colored cotton candy kids, they are pink, yellow, green, and blue). They apparently are the same colors as the Mariko Quartet.

MechaDon

MechaDon is a mechanical version of a taiko drum. He actually is not the main character of the game, but he is a mechanical replica of WadaDon. But he can be found as an auto player in every Taiko no Tatsujin game. In Taiko Mode, the game allows the computer to play the game, but no points will be given. Like WadaDon and Katsu that end their sentences with "Ba-dum" in Japanese, MechaDon usually ends his sentences with "Mecha" in Japanese. MechaDon is actually a bit rude and is quite sinister. He threatens to rule the world and take over WadaDon and Katsu but everything however, does not work. His voice is similar to WadaDon's but is actually slightly different due him being mechanical. In Taiko no Tatsujin Wii: Do Don to 2 Daime, MechaDon was damaged and was used for the boss battle

MechaKatsu

MechaKatsu is MechaDon's twin brother. Like him, he may be sinister and is an auto player in every Taiko no Tatsujin game. Like his brother, he is quite evil, considered to be a bit rude, and can also be found as an auto player in every Taiko no Tatsujin game, but only in a 2-player match. Like his brother, he usually ends his sentences with, "Mecha"

Dr. Waruru

Dr. Waruru (Dr.ワルルー, Dokuta Waruru^?) is a mad scientist that despises festivals and all things fun and has invented 7 different robots to ruin everyone's celebration. All the robots are named after metals in the Periodic Table. The robots were created for 7 out of the 9 boss battles. He was the guest character in Taiko no Tatsujin Wii: Do Don to 2 Daime. He was the final boss battle near the end of the game where he uses bombs and other gadgets to block some parts of the screen.

Dokon-Dan

Dokon-Dan is a rivaled gang of several characters that first appeared in Taiko no Tatsujin DS 2. They have also invented 3 robots for 3 of the islands for boss battles. The characters are Botan, Nyankii, Dorabotto, and Dokon.
