In "Miss Infearmation", Frankie has developed a crush on Jackson, unconcerned that he is a normie. However, in the next episode "Hyde and Shriek", she is blushing near Holt, unaware that he and Jackson are one and the same. After the stress both Holt and Jackson were placing on her when they learned their identities, Frankie has placed her relationship with both on pause. Clawdeen Wolf

Clawdeen is the daughter of the Werewolf. She is 15 years old and comes from a rather large family. Clawdeen complains about Howleen, her younger sister, whom she shares a bunk bed with. Howleen is constantly chewing on Clawdeen's shoes and borrowing her clothes and getting them dirty. Clawdeen is considered the fashionista of the group who loves leopard print and open-toed pumps. Because her hair grows unnaturally quickly, she is constantly having to shave her legs. Clawdeen dreams of owning her own fashion design brand, plays on the soccer team, and, in the webisodes, enjoys track and field. Clawdeen does not like Cleo, because Clawdeen incorrectly thought that Cleo two-timed Clawd with Deuce Gorgon. After Clawd explains to Clawdeen that his breakup with Cleo was, in fact, mutual, Clawdeen and Cleo become frenemies. In the doll diaries, Clawdeen seems to not be fond of the idea of Draculaura and Clawd dating, but in the webisodes, she eventually warms to the idea. She has a purple pet cat named Crescent. She is voiced by Salli Saffioti.

Lagoona Blue

Lagoona Blue is the daughter of a Sea Monster and an ocean nymph, making her the first known mixed monster. Lagoona loves to surf and is so skilled at it that she can do so in her platform sandals. Her skin tends to dry out if she spends too much out of the water. She is 15 years old and has blonde hair with blue streaks, thanks to the chlorine in the school pool. Lagoona is a transfer student at Monster High from down under the sea and captain of the Surf/Swim team. She tends to dress casually most of the time, but will dress up for special occasions. Cleo works hard on getting out of her sister's shadow. Cleo has a very bad relationship with her older sister Nefera, because Nefera always rub Cleo her superiority in all. Cleo is considered stuck up, but will always help her friends if they need it. Throughout the franchise, Cleo has been softening towards the other girls and slowly losing her princess ego. She has a turquoise pet cobra named Hissette and can even talk to snakes and get them to do what she says. However, Cleo refuses to manipulate her boyfriend, Deuce, with this ability. Deuce inherited his mother's ability to turn people into stone, though he has been able to control the effect so that it lasts for only about 24 hours. In "Hiss-teria", he reveals that petrified his first pet, a dragon named Smokey, when he was a young boy and the effect has lingered to the present day. Deuce is dating Cleo, who seems to always find new ways for him to spend all his money on her. Despite that, Deuce genuinely loves Cleo and wrote a song to express his feelings for her. His pet is a two-tailed rat which he named Perseus, after someone Medusa clashed with in her past. Understandably, Medusa is not amused. He is voiced by Yuri Lowenthal.

Monster High Students

Holt Hyde

Holt is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hyde. He thinks he is 16 years old. Holt is the alter ego of Jackson Jekyll and is unaware of his other half. Holt is extremely passionate about music. He only appears at night and has never seen the sun despite his best efforts. Recent information implies the transformation might be related to loud music, or is just another way to make it occur. In the books, he is known by DJ Hyde and only appears when the temperature is high. The books provide more background on Jackson and DJ (Holt) Hyde as their mother explains they are actually the grandsons of the original Dr. Jekyll. The tonic, however, combined with his DNA that is passed down to his descendants. Jackson and Holt's father was driven mad from this and is in an asylum. In book 2, he learns about his alter-ego through Melody and Brett's documentary on RADS. He has a pet chameleon named Crossfade, only a red color. Holt makes his first appearance in "Hyde and Shriek". He finds out he is Jackson in "Deuling Personality", but calls Jackson a normie and a dork. He is voiced by Cindy Robinson.

Jackson Jekyll

The son of Dr. Jekyll and Mrs. Jekyll. The first human character within the original doll franchise. The website lists him as Deuce Gorgon's best friend. According to Deuce's diary, they met when Deuce went to play "casketball" (monster basketball). Jackson had a short-lived relationship with Draculaura in the doll diaries, who grew tired of Jackson not showing up to their dates at night. His alter ego is Holt Hyde, but is unaware of it. Jackson only shows up during the day. Recent information implies the transformation might be related to loud music, or is just another way to make it occur. In his first webisode appearance "Fear Pressure", he is the cousin of Heath Burns and is the only normie at Monster High. He is constantly bullied by other students for being human. In the books, he and Melody are a couple and he becomes aware of 'DJ' (Holt). In the lost chapter in the first Monster High novel, it's revealed he probably helped Ghoulia in illustrating her Dead Fast fan comic. His pet is a chameleon named Crossfade, only the color tan and green. He found out that he is Holt in "Deuling Personality" finding the idea that his alter-ego is "loud" repulsive. He is voiced by Cindy Robinson.

Heath Burns

Heath was first seen as a background character in "Substitute Creature". He started out as being Draculaura's crush, but her infatuation soon ended. Heath has bumped up to being a regular character in the webisodes. In "Fear Pressure", he mentions that Jackson is his normie cousin. Heath's first mention in the dolls' continuity is in Abbey's diary where he is constantly hitting on her with corny one-liners. In the first novel, Heath appears to be a normie (human). In Book 2 "The Ghoul Next Door", it is revealed that this Heath is a RAD as he sneezes fire. This ability he said appeared when he turned 15 and is still developing as it first started as gassy outbursts. She writes the column "Oh My Oracle" for the school newspaper and does so anonymously so that her name is not linked to any possibly bad advice. Spectra believes she comes from a very noble family, until Ghoulia finds an old newspaper article that reveals the truth, which she promises to keep secret. What Spectra's family did in the previous life is unknown, but the memory breaks her heart. Her first webisode mention/appearance is in "Miss Infearmation," when she is known only as "The Ghostly Gossip." She makes a full appearance in "Ghostly Gossip". In the Fearbook, she is voted as "Most Likely to Star in a Reality TV Show." Her pet is a ghostly ferret named Rhuen. Spectra does appear in the third Monster High novel when she dances with Billy at Clawdeen's "Sassy Sixteen" She is voiced by Erin Fitzgerald.

Abbey Bominable

The 16-year-old daughter of the Yeti, Abbey is an exchange student from up north. She is described as a ghoul with white hair with blue, purple, and pink streaks in it and a fuzzy headband. Her family happens to be good friends with the Headmistress and is living with her as she attends Monster High. Abbey's native language is Yetish and can understand most of English, but has a hard time with the slang. In the Monster High webisode series, she speaks with a Russian accent. Abbey is very direct and can sound unintentionally mean due to difference in cultures. She is a sweet girl with a good sense of humor underneath, but her height and strength does intimidate people. The Fearbook lists her as captain of the snowboarding team. In her diary, she writes about Heath Burns seeking a date by giving her corny pick-up lines. She ignores him partly for fun and won't agree until he asks properly. Her pet is a baby woolly mammoth whose name is Shiver. Her first webisode appearance is in Back-to-Ghoul. Abbey is mentioned in the third Monster High novel, but only in a list of names for a petition to let Mrs. J have her job back. She is voiced by Erin Fitzgerald

She is a talented musician like her father, but her voice is only safe to listen to on a recording. Operetta was first mentioned in Holt's diary where the two go on a date. Operetta is mentioned again as being part of a wild rumor spread by Spectra when Operetta was only helping Deuce write a song for Cleo. Operetta makes her first webisode appearance in "Hiss-teria". Her pet is a spider named Memphis "Daddy-O" Longlegs. She is voiced by Gigi Sarroino.

Clawd Wolf

Son of the Werewolf, Clawd is Clawdeen's and Howleen's older brother. He is seventeen years old and the only character who has a license and a car to drive. Clawd is frequently mentioned in the diaries that come with the dolls and made his first webisode appearance in "Fur Will Fly". According to Ghoulia's diary, Clawd dated Cleo up until the day before she started dating Deuce. Clawd is the BMOC (Big Monster on Campus) and plays on the casketball team with Deuce. In the second wave, Draculaura has developed a crush on him. At first, he thought of her as a friend, but they have started dating. He is voiced by Yuri Lowenthal in season one and Ogie Banks III voices him in season 2. He owns a pet gargoyle bulldog, named Rockseena. In the Monster High books, his normie name is Claude.

Slow-Moe

Slow-Moe occasionally shows up in webisodes and his first appearance was "Cyrano De Ghoulia" as Ghoulia's crush. Slow-Moe, just like Ghoulia, can only speak in moans the zombie "language" in-universe. Gil is one of the top members on the swim team alongside Lagoona. When on land, Gil has to wear a tank full of water over his head in order to breathe, though "Hatch Me If You Can" and the Gloom Beach arc shows that he can be on land for a short period of time without it. Gil reciprocates Lagoona's feelings, but his parents disapprove of their relationship because Lagoona is saltwater, while the Webber family is freshwater. In "Back-to-Ghoul," Lagoona is upset at having found out that Gil's parents transferred him to another school, ostensibly to separate the couple. In "Here Comes Treble", Gil is back at Monster High. His first doll will be part of the new beach line, Skull Shores. He is voiced by Yuri Lowenthal.

Toralei Stripe

Toralei is 15 years old, she is on the first of her nine lives. she is an orange werecat who was introduced in the webisode "Scream Building," along with two other werecats, whose names are revealed in the newest diaries to be Purrsephone[2] and Meowlody. She was a fearleader until she and the rest of the fearleaders, except Frankie, grew tired of Cleo's perfectionism and quit. She later tries to rejoin, but is rejected. Toralei, who hates to be rubbed the wrong way, backs up her cattiness by stating that it is her desire to see cause-and-effect. Cleo's most recent diary reveals that Toralei, Purrsephone, and Meowlody are on the squad because of the influence of her older sister, Nefera, who apparently keeps in touch with the trio after having graduated. Her diary reveals the reasoning behind the animosity towards Cleo: Cleo wasn't a good fearleader in the beginning, so Toralei helped her with gymnastics. She was expecting to be named Fearleading Captain by Nefera who passed it onto Cleo. Cleo never thanked Toralei for her help. Toralei's doll has a tail, unlike her depiction in the webisodes. Her pet is a baby saber-toothed tiger cub named Sweet Fang. She is voiced by America Young.

Nefera de Nile

Nefera is Cleo's older sister by three years, making her 5,845 years old. Nefera is cold-hearted and evil towards other monsters and even Cleo admits to feeling insecure around her. Nefera is the main antagonist in the second season. Nefera always makes life miserable for Cleo and rubs Cleo's face in all of Nefera's success. However, Cleo has far more friends than Nefera due to Nefera's wickedness. Nefera is first mentioned in Clawd's diary and her first webisode mention is in "Miss Infearmation", but makes an onscreen appearance in "Hyde and Shriek." Nefera was the fearleading squad captain until she graduated from Monster High. Nefera only allowed Cleo to join the squad to humiliate her, until Toralei helped her sister become a good fearleader. Nefera had Toralei, Purrsephone, and Meowlody reinstated to the squad after they quit, and insists Cleo keeps them on. Nefera now works as a model, which only serves to add to Cleo's feelings of insecurity and inferiority. A Nefera doll was unveiled on July 23, at San Diego Comic-Con International 2011.[3] Along with her pet, a scarab beetle named Azura, the doll will be released in March 2012. She is voiced by Wendee Lee.

Manny Taur

Son of the Minotaur. Manny has appeared in the background of many Monster High webisodes in season 2, making his debut in the foreground in "Miss Infearmation." In both the webisodes and doll diaries, he is portrayed as a bully. In Abbey's diary, he is picking on Howleen, Clawdeen's little sister, and in the webisode, he is picking on Jackson. Manny has a sister named Minnie who, according to Frankie, does not approve of her brother's behavior. He has been trademarked for a doll from before his first webisode appearance.[4] He is voiced by Audu Paden.

Howleen Wolf

Howleen is Clawd and Clawdeen's younger sister. She shares a room with Clawdeen and is constantly borrowing Clawdeen's clothes without asking. Howleen will chew Clawdeen's shoes and even wipes her nose on her sister's jackets. Howleen becomes friends with Abbey after Abbey comes to her defense when she is being bullied by Manny. Howleen's first appearance was in the Nickelodeon special 'Fright On!'. Howleen wants to have her own identity apart from her brother and sister. It is not known what the vampires did to her in the bathroom but is most likely she got jumped. She is voiced by America Young.

Scarah Screams

Scarah is the daughter of a banshee. She appears in the background of many webisodes. Scarah has white eyes with no pupils, green skin, and jet black hair styled in a bouffant flip. She was one of three characters (the other two being the Headless Headmistress and the Daughter of Arachne) in the running to be the next new Monster High character to debut as a doll; Mattel conducted a ballot poll at the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con International to determine which character would receive the honor. On August 11, 2011, the official Monster High Facebook page announced that Scarah received the most votes in the poll. The Scarah Screams prototype doll was unveiled at the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con International, and the official doll is to be released in 2012.

Daughter of Arachne

The Daughter of Arachne has no other revealed name. She has thus far only been shown in doll form, debuting as such at the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con International. The Daughter of Arachne doll had black skin, brilliant red hair, and six spindly arms. Mattel conducted a poll to determine whether she, Scarah Screams, or the Headless Headmistress would be the next Monster High character to be produced as a doll. The poll results determined Scarah Screams to be the winner by a slim margin over the Daughter of Arachne. Whether the Daughter of Arachne doll will be produced in spite of the poll results remains to be seen.

Hoo-Dude

Hoo-Dude is a voodoo doll that Frankie made in "Hoo-doo You Like?" when her friends insist on meeting the boyfriend that, in a misguided attempt to fit in, she claims that she has. Hoo-Dude was at first an inanimate doll, but when Frankie tossed him aside after her friends assure her that it was okay for her to not have a boyfriend, he sprang to life, crying over their "break-up." He returns in "Ghostly Gossip," still pining for Frankie. Heartbroken that she had shifted her interest to Jackson Jekyll/Holt Hyde, he beats on his chest in anguish, causing boys in his immediate vicinity to suddenly double over with chest pains. In "Fright On!" He is shown when Van Helscream sews up a loose thread also causing the boys chest pains. He is voiced by Cam Clarke.

Monster High Teachers

Headless Headmistress Bloodgood

Based on the Headless Horseman, Bloodgood is in charge of the students at Monster High. Like her name implies, she can take off her head whenever it pleases her. Bloodgood also does teach some classes at Monster High and is known for giving out tons of homework. She rides her night-mare throughout the school halls and will use horse analogies on anything. Bloodgood is a good friend of Abbey's parents and lets Abbey stay at her home during the school week. A doll for her was revealed at SDCC 2011 as part of a poll to vote for the next doll. Her doll traits is not only a detachable head, but a taller body compared to the female students. She did not win the poll and whether a doll of her will be made is unknown. She is voiced by Laura Bailey.

Mr. "Hack" Hackington

He is the teacher in the webseries that is based on Leatherface. Mr. Hack is the Mad Science teacher. He enjoys seeing a look of disappointment on his students' faces whenever an opportunity can present itself. Lagoona's Mad Science Survival Guide mentions he also tends to spend most of the class talking about stories of his time with other Mad Scientists and these always end up on his end of the week tests. He is voiced by Yuri Lowenthal.

Mr. Where

Mr. Where is The Invisible Man who can also make his bandages become invisible. He is the Drama teacher at the school, but also seems to be in charge of the Debate Team in the webseries. He is voiced by Yuri Lowenthal.

Mr. Lou Zarr

Lou Zarr was the substitute teacher in "Substitute Creature" and appears in the television special "New Ghoul @ School." He is a strict normie teacher who refuses to take any nonsense from his students, and when the class cannot remember where in the textbook they left off during the previous lecture, he decides to begin his lesson from the beginning of the book. Mr. Zarr's full name is a source of mirth for the students because it sounds very much like "loser," which is what they perceive him to be. He gets turned to stone when he demands that Deuce Gorgon take off his sunglasses and Deuce complies. He was voiced by Troy Baker.

Mr. Rotter

Mr. Rotter is the Dead Languages teacher, but he was alive when they were actually being spoken. He is a tough teacher who never gives his students A's. He was a threat to the Fearleading Squad when Toralei kept setting them up to look like they'll be pranking the graduating seniors. He is voiced by Yuri Lowenthal.

Ms. Kindergrubber

Ms. Kindergrubber is the Home Ick teacher. Frankie Stein's Survival Guide to Home Ick states that she likes the students to copy her recipes the exact same way she does. The one exception is Deuce Gorgon as he's the only student whom she'll eat whatever he's made. She is quite possibly the witch from Hansel and Gretel as she does not like to check the heat of the ovens.

Ms. J

Ms. Jekyll is Jackson Jekyll's mother from the novels and has yet to appear in the webisodes. She had never told Jackson about DJ until he finds out by Melody Carver and confronts her. She approves of Melody and Jackson dating even though she is a normie. In "Where there's a Wolf, There's a Way" Ms.J rents her house to Marina, Melody's birth mother. It is unknown if Ms. J knows about Melody being a siren yet. She teaches at Merston High.

Book Exclusive Characters

These are characters exclusive to Lisi Harrison's "Monster High" novels. The books take place at Merston High in Salem, Oregon and deals with the RADS (Regular Attribute Dodgers)/monsters trying to cope with living in a normie (human) world.

Melody Carver

Melody is the co-protagonist of the Monster High novels. She and her family are from Beverly Hills and moved to Salem, Oregon to help with Melody's asthma. Melody has just recovered from rhinoplasty that was meant to help her with her breathing, but is implied to have been mostly to please her parents' family image. Melody's family is neighbors with Jackson Jekyll, whom Melody eventually dates. Melody is the one who reveals the truth behind Jackson's blackouts through a recording on her iPhone. Unfortunately, she forgets to delete it and it gets in the hands of Bekka Madden, a RAD hater and primary antagonist of the series. This video leads to the RADs community becoming exposed, Melody forming the NUDIs (Normies Uncool with Discriminating Idiots), and a documentary on their secret lives. At the end of the second novel, Melody learns from Manu, Cleo's father's aide, that she might be the daughter of Marina, a siren. This is confirmed at the end of the third novel. Melody develops the ability to persuade people to do whatever she asks with her voice. She also ahead olive and blue feathers with gold tips. This inspires her to make a dress and jewelry out of them.

Billy Phaidin

Billy Phaidin is the son of The Invisible Man. Billy is the RAD who made Salem aware of the monster community after a 60 year hiatus of a RAD sighting. It's implied that his invisibility developed later in his life, similar to Heath's fire breathing. Billy, much like his predecessor, can only be seen if he wears clothing and make-up. Billy dresses up as Frankie to appease Bekka's demands to get Jackson's transformation video back. It fools Bekka, but fails to solve the problem thanks to Brett's poor timing. In "Where There's a Wolf, There's a Way," Candace helps Billy become visible with a spray-tan. Billy has a one-sided crush on Frankie. Near the ending of "Where There's a Wolf, There's a Way" Billy dances with Spectra Vondergeist after she reveals she liked him since eighth grade,

Brett Redding

Brett is a normie who attends Merston High. At the beginning of the series, he is dating Bekka Madden. Brett in the first novel is hunting monsters after the sighting of a "green alien" (really Frankie). It's revealed later that this is out of a fascination and love for monsters. Brett kisses Frankie at the Monster Mash and accidentally detaches her head, sending shockwaves throughout his body. He ends up in a coma until the beginning of the second novel. When Brett wakes up, during live TV, he breaks up with Bekka and wants to find the mystery girl from the dance. Brett joins the NUDIs with Melody and the two decide to make a documentary to show normies that RADs are just regular people as well. Brett is also dating Frankie and friends with Heath before anyone knew he was a RAD.

Bekka Madden

Bekka is the primary antagonist of the Monster High novels. She befriends Melody at first due to a common dislike of Cleo de Nile. Bekka wants Brett all to herself, even forcing Melody to sign a contract that she won't make any moves on Brett. Bekka discovers the video of Jackson transforming into DJ Hyde and uses this as blackmail for Melody to get Frankie, the girl who kissed Brett and put him in a coma. Within the allotted time frame, Melody brings a disguised Billy to Brett's hospital room. Bekka is fool and pleased with the turning in of the RAD, but exposes the video on live TV anyway when Brett breaks up with her. Bekka ends up sabotaging the NUDIs documentary by turning it into fear propaganda rather than a film to help the RADs break out into society.

Candace Carver

Candace is Melody's older sister. On the surface, she appears to be nothing more than a party girl and the stereotypical Beverly Hills teenager. However, Melody, in the second book remarks that Candace "defied the dumb-blond stereotype. There was no air in that head. The spinning wheels in her brain blew it all out her ears." Candace is very supportive of Melody and is happy to help her sister when she can. She, in fact, was the one to name NUDI and is a proud member, serving as the group's unofficial chauffeur without complaint. Candace is unaware that Melody is adopted.
