Launched June 2008

Changents is a privately owned and operated interactive storytelling and social networking platform that was launched in June 2008 by Alex Hofmann and Deron Triff.

The Changents social network features multimedia profiles of individuals throughout the world, called Change Agents, who are working to create positive change in the areas of global warming, corporate responsibility, disaster relief, education, energy, the environment, health, homelessness, human rights, hunger, politics, terrorism, tolerance, violence and war & conflict. These Change Agents share their on-going, personal stories through video, photos, blogs, Twitter, and other interactive media.

The Changents community is made up of Change Agents and Backers—a term used to describe supporters from around the world who associate with and help Change Agents on the site. Backers are able to create personal profiles and interact with Change Agents and other Backers via commenting, Action Requests (engagement/support opportunities), and a Changents messaging feature. Community members may nominate themselves or others as Change Agents.

Corporate Partners

Timberland

Commencing in May 2009, Changents launched a partnership with Timberland. The highlight of this partnership is the Timberland Earthkeeper Heroes 2009 Program.

Timberland partnered with Changents to develop the Earthkeeper Heroes program to enable environmental Change Agents to reach their full potential by providing a promotional/consumer engagement engine to elevate these individuals onto the global environmental scene.

The 2009 Earthkeeper Heroes are Cate Trotter, Mark Shearer, Nick Gardner, Nate Bastien, Sami Nerenberg, Andrea Bakacs, The Big Green Bus, and Christopher Swain.
