Chamarru is a village on the bank of Krishna River, which borders the Guntur district. The section of river near the village has Krishna district villages on the other side. Chamarru has seen a decrease in population since 1990, with some families building houses nearer to the Atchampet, an area known as New Chamarru.

The village has a temple for Lord Ganesh as well as a primary school. There are few famous people from Chamarru, including Sri. Aggaraju Bhramaraiah Garu and Sri. Uppala Venkateswarlu Garu.
