† Appearances (Goals).Artur Jorge Colaço Futre (born 29 April 1983) is a Portuguese footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder.
Football career
Born in Montijo, Futre played most of his youth football at Sporting Clube de Portugal, but finished his formation at Vitória de Setúbal. In 2003–04, he made his first division debuts, with F.C. Alverca, playing 30 minutes in a 0–1 home loss at C.S. Marítimo; the Lisbon side had just returned from the second level, and would be immediately sent back at the season's closure.
In the 2005 summer, Futre was bought by S.L. Benfica, but never made any official appearances for the national powerhouse, serving two loans in the process, the first in level two with F.C. Maia, the second in the top level with lowly Clube Desportivo das Aves, with the player appearing scarcely for the latter. Subsequently, he chose to retire at only 24, going on to work as a promoter of sporting events.
Futre returned to active in 2008–09, after one year, moving to local Clube Olímpico do Montijo, in the regional championships. After three years, he returned to the national leagues - third division - with Atlético de Reguengos.
Personal life
Futre's uncle, Paulo, also emerged through Sporting's youth ranks, going on to have an illustrious professional career, playing for F.C. Porto and Atlético Madrid as the most notable clubs. Internationally, he gained nearly 50 caps for Portugal.
