Miranda Ribeiro, 1918Taunayia bifasciata is the only species of catfish (order Siluriformes) in the genus Taunayia of the family Heptapteridae.[1] Another undescribed species of this genus is known.[2] T. bifasciata originates from the Upper Paraíba do Sul and Tietê River basins of Brazil.[1] This fish is known to grow to about 14.0 centimetres (5.5 in) SL.[3]
