PRITHVI are an Indian rock band, formed in Noida, India in August 2004. The band, led by frontman, guitarist, and co-founder Arjun Kaul, have been noted for their excellent compositions, stage act, and musicianship.

History

Formation

The group was formed by Arjun and Bhim Kaul in early 2004. The vacant positions were filled in with friends of Bhim who had some musical experience. Arjun guided and trained the band to becoming a professional act playing corporate gigs, college shows, promotional campaigns, and the pub scene.

Discovery

After watching a video of the band performing KISS, GnR, and Steve Vai covers, in July 2005 then Rock Street Journal editor Sam Lal, was impressed enough to ask the band to perform at Turquoise Cottage. The event, labeled "Stormbringer" saw PRITHVI playing with famous Indian metal band Prestorika. The event was a success, with over 250 people coming in to watch the bands.

PRITHVI made a name for itself with its Guns'n'Roses covers, performing songs like Estranged, Don't Cry, Welcome to the Jungle, Paradise City, and Madagascar regularly at shows.

College Competitions

Like all Indian rock bands PRITHVI played its share of college competitions. Unlike many other competing bands, PRITHVI had already turned 'pro' making their share of money playing shows. Playing competitions was a fun activity for the band and a great way to spread the music.

Recent events

PRITHVI is on a tour of India supporting Kings of the Stonehenge, a progressive Sufi metal group from Vancouver Canada.
