2nd Health Support Battalion (Australia)

The 2nd Health Support Battalion (2HSB) is a unit of the 17th Combat Service Support Brigade of the Australian Army. It is based at the Gallipoli Barracks in Enoggera, Queensland.

Role

2HSB is a rapidly deployable medical facility able to support all contingency as requested by the Australian Defence Force (ADF). The role of the 2HSB is to provide Level 3 combat health support to land-based forces in joint, combined and inter-agency operations. A Level 3 facility provides the first formal initial wound surgery (surgical resuscitation) and medium to high intensity nursing care in the area of operations.
