Mateo was succeeded in title by then 111-year-oldAlice Stevenson . Mateo was the first verified Spanish supercentenarian, and also the first verified person documented to die aged 112. Mateo is still the only Spanish person ever to die aged 112. Mateo was the last person to become the oldest living person before becoming a supercentenarian, as she became the world's oldest person at 'just' 109, or 109 years 181 days to be exact.
