Get It is a 1987 hit R&B single written and produced by multiple Grammy Award-winning American singer Stevie Wonder, taken from the album "Characters". The duet features Motown star Stevie Wonder and former Motown alumni, pop singer superstar Michael Jackson.

The song features singer Michael Jackson. Jackson worked with Wonder eight years earlier for the song "I Can't Help It" for his "Off the Wall" album, which was written by Wonder and former Supremes member Susaye Greene. Prior to "Get It", Jackson sung on Stevie's 1974 hit "You Haven't Done Nothin'", from his "Fulfillingness First Finale" album.

Overview

The song starts with a mid-uptempo soul/R&B jam, including the synthesizer. It was released in the United States on December 14, 1987, debuting on the Billboard Hot 100 at a respectable #31, staying there for a total of five weeks, until it peaked at #10.

On the Billboard Hip-Hop/R&B charts, it was a major hit at #1, staying there for a total of fifteen weeks until it retired on March 26, 1988.

The song talked about Stevie and Michael talking about how to treat a lady, alongside what does a woman wants, needs, and respect from her lover.

This single received airplay in urban radio stations, and is currently popular with fans today.

Wonder has mostly performed this songs in concerts, and events.

The song was also featured in the popular African-American dance show, "Soul Train" in its seventeenth season (1987–1988).

The song was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.
