- Contact Data Management
CDM stands for contact data management or customer data management.
CDM refers to the management and processing of contact (or customer) data, which enables effective communications. The more information organisations hold on their contacts, the stronger position they are in to make intelligent decisions, take targeted actions and provide better customer service.
Contact data needs to be managed for every type of individual that exists within a database, such as customers, prospects, staff and suppliers. Components of a contact record include personal information required to interact with an individual. This includes, but is not limited to: name, address, telephone and fax numbers, email address, profiling data (such as MOSAIC).
CDM considers how information enters database(s), is stored and kept within those database(s) and is used over time. An effective CDM strategy includes a mixture of data quality software [http://www.qas.co.uk/products/contact-data-management.htm] , consultancy and clear internal business processes.
