XHRM-FM or Magic 92.5 is a
Rhythmic Adult Contemporaryoutlet licensed in the Mexican stateof Baja Californiaand is operated by Finest City Broadcasting of San Diego, California, United States. The station operates at 92.5 MHz with an effective radiated power of 100 kW. Finest City took over operations from Clear Channel Broadcastingon December 1, 2005because of ownership limits in San Diego due to the addition of Tijuana into the market.
XHRM debuted on the air in 1981 as San Diego's first
Urban Contemporary station. Over the course of the decade, the station would evolve into a Rhythmic Contemporaryformat, being one of the first stations in the U.S. to regularly play Freestyle songs as a part of their playlist. The combination of the Latin based Freestyle songs along with the station's original mainstream R&Bsound was a success, giving the station its signature style for the remainder of the decade. The station's sound returned to a less progressive, more traditional Urban Contemporarystyle again in 1990 due in part to a prospective buy-out. A few years later, in 1993 the station's format changed to Modern Rock (as "92.5 The Flash") before landing into its current format Rhythmic Adult Contemporaryin 1998 after XETRA became its sister station.
