(2000)"Gizmodgery" is an
album by Self released in 2000 by Spongebath Records. Although Self's previous release,Breakfast with Girls , met with mixed critical response and a poor commercial showing, this follow-up repeated the success of Self's first album,Subliminal Plastic Motives . The LP was recorded entirely with children'stoy instruments and contains a cover of theDoobie Brothers ' hit song "What a Fool Believes." It is also notable for being released in the short-livedHDCD format. The track "Trunk Fulla Amps" appears twice on the album, the second version with the expletives removed. The song references and samples a variety of rock artists, includingFreddie Mercury /Queen, ELO,Glenn Danzig /Danzig, andLenny Kravitz . Japanese import versions of the album contain the bonus track "Resurrect," and alternate artwork.Track listing
