Anthony Charles Dumper

The Rt Rev Anthony Charles Dumper was the Bishop of Dudley from 1977 until 1993 [The Times, Wednesday, Jan 05, 1977; pg. 14; Issue 59900; col C "Church news New bishop suffragan"] . Born on 4 October 1923 he was educated at Christ's College, Cambridge [Who's Who2008: London, A & C Black ISBN 9780713672576] and ordained in 1947. He began his ecclesiastical career with a Curacy in Greenwich [Crockford's Clerical Directory2008/2009 Lambeth, Church House Publishing ISBN 9780715110300] after which he was Vicar of Perak and then Archdeacon of North Malaysia before his elevation to the Episcopate. A keen gardener, Bishop Anthony is married with two sons and one daughter [ Debrett's People of Today London,1992 Debrett's ISBN 1870520092 ] and in retirement continues to serve the church as an Assistant Bishop within the Diocese of Birmingham.
