Sheldon Schafer is the Green Party candidate for Illinois' 18th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives. His opponents, for this race are Democratic nominee Colleen Callahan and Republican nominee Aaron Schock. He belongs to both the United States Green Party and the Illinois Green Party. Sheldon was born in Salem, Ohio in the year 1948. He attended Ohio State University, and obtained a masters degree from Wagner College. He volunteered in the Peace Corps from 1970-1972. He currently holds the title of Vice President of Education at Lakeview Museum of Arts and Sciences. He has taught astronomy at Bradley University since 1980.
