Kapa Kapa Trail is a mountain trail that stretches from Kapa Kapa village on the south coast of

Douglas MacArthur issued orders forUnited States forces to take the Kapa Kapa Trail running parallel to the Kokada Track in an effort to entrap theImperial Japanese troops between the two allied forces.The 2nd Battalion of the
126th Infantry Regiment trekked over the trail and reached Jaure on25 October 1942 , many of its men were suffering from malaria and other fevers. Upon hearing of the condition of the 2nd Battalion after its crossing of the Owen Stanleys via the Kapa Kapa Trail, the 32nd Division commander, Major GeneralEdwin F. Harding requested that the rest of his troops be airlifted over the Owen Stanleys to Fasari and Pongani.References
