- Live From... (The Golf Channel edition)
"There is also a weekday program on
CNN called "Live From..."."The Golf Channel edition of "Live From..." only airs during certain tournaments, mainly events on thePGA Tour . "Live From..." combines The Golf Channel's "Golf Central " and "Sprint Pre & Post Game " shows to make a usually 3-hour or longer block of live programming from a certain tournament. Here's a better explanation:Each edition of "Live From..." that airs during a non-major begins airing the Wednesday of the week of the tournament. Each edition of "Live From..." that airs during a major tournament begins airing the Monday of the week of that tournament. Each edition the show that airs during the tournament itself begins as soon as daily network coverage of the event ends. Each show during tournament play begins with a preview of what will be shown during the telecast, and highlights and analysis from Golf Channel anchor
Brian Hammons and former PGA Tour event winner and Golf Channel analystBrandel Chamblee . During the show, Hammons will make tosses to The Golf Channel's studio inOrlando, Florida , where another anchor is sitting at the "Golf Central" set's desk. That person will usually have highlights of events from othergolf tours. "Live From..." is also made up of analysis from the crew of the "Sprint Post Game" —Brian Hewitt ,Frank Nobilo , andPeter Oosterhuis , with moderator and the Golf Channel's top on-air personality,Kraig Kann . There are also reports fromRich Lerner (whom, at majors, has a famous segment at the end of each telecast called the "Championship Journal") andKelly Tilghman is in Orlando. There is also live coverage ofpress conference s with top players likeTiger Woods andPhil Mickelson .Each "Live From..." set is the same: there is an open-air stage with two desks, one for Chamblee and Hammons, and the other for Kann, Hewitt, Nobilo, and Oosterhuis. Since there are four people at the "Sprint Post Game" desk, it's no surprise that that desk is bigger. Both desks are sat some feet apart in order to nearly form an "L", as the "Sprint Post Game" desk is turned so that the hosts have their backs to the course, while the desk for Hammons and Chamblee is set so that the course is just to their left.
"Live From..." airs during all the majors of the PGA Tour:
*The Masters Tournament
*U.S. Open
*The Open Championship (however, only the reporters are on-location at the Open, as all other talent are in Orlando)
