Engineering college rankings in India

Although there is no definite way of ranking engineering colleges in the country, every year many magazines bring out their own rankings with their own criteria. The following ranking neither gives the factors, their weightage nor does it give any reference. The absence of an IIT (IIT Roorkee) in the top 10 is certainly unacceptable. Rankings looks biased to BITS Pilani (notice the detailed explanation of programs indicated). Though not conclusive, but BITS Pilani seldom figures in top 10, leave apart it ranking above IIT Guwahati. Also, IIT Guwahati placements have consistently been close to cent per cent with top recruiters in the country visiting it every year. It is advised that the following rankings be considered with caution... specially if it is referred to by a prospective student.

Infrastructure has not been taken into account because many private colleges and universities with high fees get high ranking only due to infrastructure. This ranking has been done speacially for students taking admission into them.
