The Stein Rokkan Prize for Comparative Social Science Research is an academic honour awarded by the International Social Science Council (ISSC), the University of Bergen and the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR), in memory of the political scientist and sociologist Stein Rokkan.[cite web|url=http://www.essex.ac.uk/ECPR/funding/prizes/documents/rokkan0809.pdf|title=Stein Rokkan Prize for Comparative Social Science Research|publisher=International Social Science Council|accessdate=2008-08-23] ]It is awarded to a scholar making a "very substantial and original contribution in comparative social science research".[ This contribution can be in the form of a book-length, unpublished manuscript, or a published book or a collection of works published with the two years prior to the award ceremony.][ As of 2008, the award will be made annually and is worth €5,000.]Former winners
