McHappy Day is an annual event at McDonald's, where a percentage of the day's sales go to charity. It is the signature fundraising event for Ronald McDonald House Charities.[1]
In 2007, it was celebrated in 17 countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, the United States, Finland, France, Guatemala, Hungary, England, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and Uruguay.
According to the Australian McHappy Day web site, McHappy Day raised $20.4 million in 2009. The goal for 2010 is $20.8 million.[2]

2011 sees the 20th Anniversary of McHappy Day in Australia being celebrated on Saturday November 12th. 2011 also sees American Express partnering with Facebook with an initiative that will see $1 donated from American Express for each "Check-In" to a McDonald's restaurant on the day (Up to a maximum of $100,000). McDonald's will also be donating $2 from every Big Mac sold throughout the day.
