**The U.S. Postal Service unveils two potential designs for its proposed Elvis Presley postage stamp for fans to vote on. *The first "Europäisches Jugendchorfestival",(EJCF) (European Festival of Youth Choirs) was held in Basel, Switzerland. It was a great success and it was decided to make it a triennial event.
* May 7 - John Frusciante of the Red Hot Chili Peppers left the band prior to the publication of the "Rolling Stone" magazine cover featuring them and had to be digitally edited out of the photo. *October 31 and November 7 - "End of the Road" by Boyz II Men posted its 12th and 13th consecutive weeks at #1 in the US charts, ending a 36-year record previously held by Elvis Presley.
