Vico Thai

Vico Thai (born 16 April, 1981, Saigon, Vietnam) is an Australian actor, best known for his work in Foxtel’s Dangerous (TV series)

Biography

Vico was brought up in the Sydney suburb of Bankstown and began performing at the age of 10. In 1995 Vico received a prestigious national scholarship at the Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP). During his time at ATYP, Vico performed in various theatrical and musical productions such as Corragio, Macbeth and Beyond the Game. In 1997 Vico was nominated by the Ten Network for a National Young Achiever Award.

After graduating high school and the Australian Theatre for Young People, Vico completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Western Sydney. In 2002 Vico suffered a tragic loss, his fourteen year old sister Jenny Thai passed away from a unsuccessful open heart surgery. The loss of his sibling was devastating but after some time off, Vico joined the Bankstown Youth Development Service (BYDS), mentoring and helping disadvantaged youths all over Sydney.

Career

In 2005 Vico starred in Urban Theatre Projects’ Fast Cars and Tractor Engines a verbatim style play performed for the first time in Australia. [http://www.realtimearts.net/article/70/7994] A year later Vico landed a lead role as one of the stars on Foxtel’s AFI nominated show Dangerous (TV series) working alongside Joel Edgerton, Brooke Satchwell and Khan Chittenden. Recently Vico has teamed up with acclaimed writer/ director Khoa Do, working on Mother Fish the first Australian play about Vietnamese boat refugees.
