Francis “Skip” Gilbert is a retired U.S. soccer goalkeeper and the current CEO of USA Triathlon, the governing body for that sport. He was a two-time first team All American goalkeeper and played one season in the North American Soccer League. He is the former Vice President of Marketing for the United States Soccer Federation.

Gilbert attended the University of Vermont where he played on the men’s soccer team from 1980 to 1983. He was selected as a first team All American goalkeeper in 1982 and 1983. He graduated with a bachelors degree in economics and political science and was inducted in the Vermont Athletic Hall of Fame in 1993. After retiring from playing, Gilbert entered the sports marketing career field. He was an account executive at Tennis Magazine, ADWEEK and Ziff-Davis before spending nine years in marketing at Sporting News, part of that as the national sales manager. On July 24, 1997, he moved to the United States Soccer Federation where he was the Vice President of Sales.
