Background

Hotel Hotel signed to Silber Media in early 2007 with the idea for the "The Sad Sea" already in place. However, just before the band was scheduled to begin recording, Evan Caverninha, the original drummer disappeared in april 2007, having never talked to anyone else the in band except for violinist Patrick Patterson a handful of times in 2008. During the recording of the album, their second drummer, J. Adam Butera also left, forcing the band to find another drummer once again. Finally, in spring 2008, the band brought abroad Ed Warga.
