David Franj (real name David Franciosa) is an Australian singer-songwriter. Originally known for his hit singles God Only Knows, Oxygen and Never Be Amazing from his debut album 'Wrong Place, Wrong Time'.
He wrote the song Perfect for Vanessa Amorosi which went platinum and reached #4 on the ARIA Charts. It was also the most played song on the radio written by an Australian songwriter in 2008/2009.
Biography
David Franj was raised in the city of Preston, Victoria. At age fifteen, he picked up a guitar; by sixteen he was "doing [his] own thing". Before he was nineteen, he travelled to Los Angeles, but eventually returned to Australia and was signed to Shock Records. His first single, Oxygen, was released to radio in early 2002, followed by Never Be Amazing, which reached the ARIA Top 20, his debut album Wrong Place, Wrong Time[1] and God Only Knows, which also reached the top 20.[2]
In December, 2003, Franj released I Want To Wake Up With You on the soundtrack for the Australian comedy film The Wannabes.[3]
Five years after his last song release, Vanessa Amorosi released Perfect, the second single from her second studio album, Somewhere In The Real World. The song peaked at #4 on the Aria Charts.[4] ‘Perfect’ was nominated for APRA’s ‘Most Performed Song’. The single has also recently been given the illustrious title of Most Played Song on Radio by an Australian artist in the past decade (114 weeks on 29 June 2011), an accolade only beaten internationally by two other artists - Coldplay and Kings of Leon.
David has been successfully writing songs for 15 years and is currently working with highly acclaimed songwriters and artists across the globe.
