It is the senior county cup for the footballing county of Northumberland, which includes Newcastle upon Tyne, North Tyneside, and Northumberland. The first winners were Tyne. The current holders are Newcastle United Reserves who defeated Blyth Spartans 4-0 at St. James' Park on 11 May 2011.
