Running for Help

Running for Help is a competitive running club that hopes to bring awareness and change to pressing social issues. It was started by two post-collegiate runners who with the goal of combining their passion for running with one's responsibility to help the neglected, underprivileged, and victimized members of society strive to raise awareness. By competing in cross-country, track, and road races the Running for Help team has been spreading their name in order to guide the general public to visit their website, http://www.runningforhelp.com [http://www.runningforhelp.com] , so that once there visitors will read information about certain highlighted organizations. These organizations were selected by the Running for Help Board of Directors for their current relevance to today's social issues, and what these organizations are doing for society. Once having read about the various organizations, visitors to the Running for Help website can click on links leading them to the ones they would like to learn more about.

Organizations currently highlighted on the Running for Help website are Hannah's House ( [http://www.hannahs-house.org] ), Luv-em-up Ministries ( [http://www.luvemup.org] ), Love 146 ( [http://www.love146.org] ), and Kiva ( [http://www.kiva.org] ).

Hannah's House provides a place for children of broken families to have safe visitations with their parents.

Luv-em-up Ministries is a church ministry that caters specifically to those with special needs. Church services, ministry trips, and Bible studies are all provided in a way that impact these adults and youth.

Love 146 is an organization devoted to halting the child trafficking industry.

Kiva's motto is "Loans that change lives", as they provide those in impoverished countries loans. These loans come from the public, as anyone can pick who to lend money to from Kiva's website.

Visitors to the website can also become Advocates for Running for Help [http://www.runningforhelp.com/Advocates.html] . By becoming an Advocate, one is stating they are committed to spreading the word about these organizations that need help from the public, and also doing what they can to help. These Advocates can also run for the Running for Help club running team, publicizing the website on their racing shirts, further spreading the word about these organizations spurring social change.

Running for Help is an unincorporated non-profit organization in the progress of obtaining their 501(c)(3). It is also a USA Track and Field member club, # 44-0080 [http://www.usatf.org/clubs/search/info.asp?associationNumber=44] .
