Chitturu Nagaiah was born on 28 March 1904, in a Telugu Brahmin family in India. He lived until 30th December 1973, he was last in Madras(Chennai), India.His birth name was Uppalam Nageswaram.

Trivia

He was the first south Indian actor along with Bhanumathi Ramakrishna to be awarded the Padmashri award by the Government of India in 1965.

He was the most costliest actor - used to charge 100,000 Indian rupees for each film in 1940s
