"Running On Empty" (released in America as "Fast Lane Fever") is a 1982 Australian film.

Plot:Fox is a young man that lives in the fast lane. He believes he is the fastest man on the road - but street racing is illegal. If he doesn't accept his latest challenge he could lose his girl... if he does accept, he could lose his life. Living dangerously, living fast and winning at any cost is their obsession. They don't turn back, the don't give in.. and the don't ask for help.

This film collects just what it was like to be in Australia in the early 80's. It's about hot cars, hot chicks and hot times. The story begins when two local street racers agree to race Fox, the fastest street drag racer there is. After two of the three race rounds, the race is no longer a game, but more of a survival!
