Themountain was named during the 1860 survey by the HMS Plumber who charted all the of the area and named the mountain after the German Emperor Prince Friedrich Wilhelm, the heir to the German Prussian and German thrones who married Queen Victoria and Prince Albert of England's first daughter HRH Victoria Adelaide Mary Louisa “Vicky” [Hitz, Charles W.(2003).
