Modryń — Village — Coordinates: 50°41′N 23°54′E / 50.683°N 23.9°E Country Poland Voivodeship Lublin County Hrubieszów Gmina Mircze Modryń [ˈmɔdrɨɲ] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Mircze, within Hrubieszów County, Lublin Voivodeship, in eastern Poland, close to the border with Ukraine.[1] It lies approximately 4 kilometres (2 mi) north of Mircze, 15 km (9 mi) south of Hrubieszów, and 113 km (70 mi) south-east of the regional capital Lublin.
History
World War II
In March of 1944, Modryn was one of hundreds of locales attacked by Polish partisans in acts of ethnic cleansing against the ethnic Ukrainian population. 75 villagers were brutally murdered and 36 houses destroyed.[2]
