Khaw Boon Wan (zh-sp|s=许文远|p=Xǔ Wényuǎn; born
8 December 1952 ) is the Minister for Health ofSingapore . He was born inPenang , Malaya.Khaw completed his education in the University of Newcastle,
Australia under the Singapore Government Colombo Plan Scholarship, graduating in 1977 with B.Engineering (Hons) and B.Commerce. He worked in the Ministry of Health, formulating health policies, and restructuring the public hospitals. He has been the CEO of theNational University Hospital ,Kandang Kerbau Women's and Children's Hospital and theSingapore General Hospital . In 1992, he became Prime MinisterGoh Chok Tong 's Principal Private Secretary and served for three years. In 1995, he joined the Ministry of Trade and Industry where he served as its Permanent Secretary until October 2001.Khaw was elected as a
Member of Parliament on3 November 2001 . He was appointed Minister for Health on12 August 2004 . Khaw was noted for his role in theNational Kidney Foundation Singapore scandal , and madeGerard Ee as the new chairman of NKF followingT.T Durai 's resignation.Khaw is married with three daughters, and is known to be a devoted
