Iowa Highway 140 begins at
U.S. Highway 20 at Moville. It goes northeast through Moville to Kingsley on an alignment just to the east of theLittle Sioux River . At Kingsley, Iowa 140 turns north and continues north until its intersection withIowa Highway 3 southeast of Remsen, where it ends.History
Iowa Highway 140 began as a highway between Moville and Remsen. In 1931, the highway was extended south to Hornick and then west to Sloan, with a further extension west from Sloan to connect to Interstate 29 in 1958. In 1961, the highway was shortened to Hornick as
Iowa Highway 141 was extended west through Hornick and Sloan. The segment between Hornick and Moville was eliminated in 1964. In 1965, the segment between Kingsley and Remsen was eliminated, only to be restored in 1980.Iowahighwaysref|lowrg=140|hirng=159|num=140|access_date=2008-07-18]References
