They are also helping in teaching, curricula and laboratory developments, and research activities of the newly emerging public and private universities in Bangladesh under MoU or BRTC programs (Like Ahsanullah University)
Alumni
Its alumni include many successful engineers and alumni includes Engineers at international organizations such as Intel and academic positions in many Bangladeshi and US Universities. Since the inception the Department of EEE, BUET has been drawing the attention of the top notch students of Bangladesh as their first choice of study. (BUET admission test itself is a very compititive exam). In the fields of power and the booming telecommunication industries, Bangladesh is experiencing steady growth due to the need. The current trend is that graduates join local cellular telecommunication (
Grameen Phone Banglalink etc), power (State Owned Power Grid Company of Bangladesh, as well as private firms), and several IC design centers and software development companies.Conferences
Department of EEE is one of the main organizers of the International Conference of Electrical and Communication Engineering (ICECE).
Extracurricular Works
Electrical Day
Every year, Electrical Day is celebrated by the students and the teachers of the Department. The Day's programs include cultural functions, quiz contests, etc.
IEEE BUET Student Branch The Department is also the Umbrella Organizations to house and govern the
IEEE BUET Student Branch Financial Problems
As BUET is a state owned university of Bangladesh. The pay-scale of the teachers are fixed by the Government. The salary of the teachers are quite meagre compared to the salary of the private universities. University Education is free in state owned universities, and only a nominal exam fee and subsidized hall charge has to be borne by the Students. Due to the low salary of the teachers, many successful researchers and good teachers of the Department have left their jobs to join private universities and majority of the teachers, especially senior teachers do part-time teaching jobs in the private universities. This has started to cripple the educational quality of the department. The department tries to overcome the scarcity of teachers by recruiting fresh graduates as lecturer every year.
