History

Formation

Danger Radio's lead vocalist (Andrew de Torres of The Scene Aesthetic) and drummer (Nico Hartikainen) met as middle schoolers, soon after adding Marvin Kunkel as bassist for talent shows and school gigs.[1] Soon after Matt Goodwin and Spencer Mertel were added in addition to the band, both playing guitars. They recorded a few demos under the name Chasing Tomorrow but later changed the name to Danger Radio before recording their first EP titled The Difference Between Love And Envy which was produced by Casey Bates (Gatsby's American Dream, Portugal. The Man, This Providence).[1]

In early 2005, Matt Goodwin and Spencer Mertel left the band after the EP and were replaced by Andy Brookins and Elan Wright, soon after keyboardist Jackson Kellock joined the band making Danger Radio a six man band.

With the new line up of members Danger Radio recorded a 2005 demo, which would had early versions of songs that would later make it to the Punch Your Lights Out EP, which was produced by Tom Pfaeffle (Gatsbys American Dream, Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground, Wild Orchid Children).

In late 2006, Jackson parted ways with the band and was replaced by Spencer Phillips in 2007. Shortly after Danger Radio was signed to Photo Finish Records, they released an EP, Punch Your Lights Out, in 2007.[2][3][4][5]

Used and Abused (2008-2010)

Their debut full-length, Used and Abused, was released on July 8, 2008 on Photo Finish, and reached #17 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart.[6]

In the past, they have toured with the likes of PlayRadioPlay!, We The Kings, Metro Station, Forever the Sickest Kids, The Maine, The Cab, The Audition, and fellow label-mates Envy On the Coast. They also played on the second date of The Bamboozle in both May 2007 and 2008. In 2009, the band covered Britney Spears for their Hoodwink set and also played the second date of The Bamboozle.

They were originally scheduled to play on Vans Warped Tour during the summer of 2008, but later dropped out in favor of a tour with Cute Is What We Aim For, Ace Enders, & Powerspace, followed by a tour with Meg & Dia, Jonezetta, and Dropping Daylight in the fall. Then they went out on their first headlining tour with Brighten, Farewell, and Red Car Wire.[7] This included three dates in Canada.[8] Later in the year, they will be touring with Family Force 5 and PlayRadioPlay!.

Bassist Marvin Kunkel parted ways with the band in the fall of 2008 and was replaced by Tyler Brown Williams for dates with My American Heart, The Morning Of and Artist Vs Poet.[9]

Danger Radio supported Forever The Sickest Kids on a UK tour, along with Furthest Drive Home starting February 8, 2009.

Nothing's Gonna Hold Us Down (2010-present)

They are now currently writing new material and recently uploaded new songs, "Build", "Set you Free", "You and Me", and "Nothing's Gonna Hold Us Down" on their Myspace.

The band recently announced that they have signed with Doghouse Records on their Myspace and the follow-up to Used and Abused, Nothing's Gonna Hold Us Down, was released July 27, 2010.
