According to the
United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 5.1square mile s (13.3km² ), of which, 4.9 square miles (12.7 km²) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.6 km²) of it (4.68%) is water. County Road 19 serves as a main route in the city.Hanover is located along the Crow River.
Demographics
As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 1,355 people, 440 households, and 370 families residing in the city. Thepopulation density was 277.0 people per square mile (107.0/km²). There were 456 housing units at an average density of 93.2/sq mi (36.0/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.75% White, 0.07% Native American, 0.37% Asian, and 0.81% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.59% of the population.There were 440 households out of which 48.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 76.4% were married couples living together, 3.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 15.7% were non-families. 12.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.08 and the average family size was 3.38.
In the city the population was spread out with 33.4% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 36.0% from 25 to 44, 18.7% from 45 to 64, and 4.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 100.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 104.8 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $73,667, and the median income for a family was $79,809. Males had a median income of $47,462 versus $32,452 for females. The
