SSMIS

The Special Sensor Microwave Imager / Sounder" (SSMI/S) is an eleven-channel, eight-frequency, linearly polarized passive microwave radiometric system.

Instrument characteristics

The instrument is flown onboard the United States Air Force Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) F-16 satellite.
