Running Springs Elementary School is a Kindergarten through sixth grade elementary school located in the northeastern corner of Anaheim Hills, California within the Orange Unified School District. The school serves the newer community (constructed between 1997 and 2000) east of Serrano Avenue. The school opened its doors in 1999 primarily to relieve crowding at nearby Canyon Rim Elementary. The school runs on a year round schedule.
Running Springs has a student body of 841 students making it the largest elementary campus in Anaheim Hills. The racial composition of Running Springs is 56% White, 26% Asian, 11% Hispanic, 3% Filipino, and 4% other/no response. The school had a strong API score of 877 in 2007.
Running Springs students move onto El Rancho Charter School for seventh and eighth grades followed by Canyon High School for grades nine through twelve; both of which are in Anaheim Hills.
Windy Ridge Fire
The school was evacuated during the Windy Ridge Fire in March of 2007 and was in immediate danger of the flames. As a result of the fire, school was cancelled for three days.
