Julian Velard (born 6 October 1979), is an American pianist and singer-songwriter signed to the EMI/Charisma record Label.

Biography

Velard was born and raised in New York City, New York. He attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts and Hampshire College, in Amherst, Massachusetts, where he studied under Yousef Lateef. He has lived in London since signing to EMI in the summer of 2007.

He has toured the UK, Ireland and North America, appearing with numerous other acts, including: Marc Broussard, Michael Tolcher, Jonah Smith, The Alternate Routes, Jose Gonzalez, Sonya Kitchell, Tom Baxter, The Clarks, Horatio Sanz, The Damnwells, Ari Hest, Ben Kweller, Toby Lightman, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, and others. On November 27, 2007, he made his first appearance in Paris, supporting Kate Nash. Throughout February and May, 2008, he supported Amy Macdonald [ [http://www.slow2fade.co.uk/index.php?id=339 Julian Velard performs in Glasgow supporting Amy Macdonald, May 24, 2008] ] on a sold-out tour of the UK and Ireland.

Velard made his UK radio debut in May 2008 with his first single, Jimmy Dean & Steve McQueen. Shortly thereafter, he was featured as "Record of the Week" on The BBCs Radio 2, and appeared on The Dermot O'Leary show for "Radio 2 Presents: Julian Velard."

On May 9, 2008, Velard made his television debut with an interview and performance on This Morning [ [http://www.itv.com/Lifestyle/ThisMorning/Entertainment/JulianVelard123/default.html Julian Velard on] This Morning] with Fern and Phil.

His first commercial single, Jimmy Dean & Steve McQueen [ [http://www.cdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=5035 Julian Velard releases new single, 'Jimmy Dean & Steve McQueen', May 27, 2008] ] was released in Ireland on June 13, 2008. It was released in the UK on June 16th, 2008. In addition to Jimmy Dean & Steve McQueen, this release also includes two additional tracks: You Wouldn't Wanna Be Me, All In All.
