United States Census Bureau , the town has a total area of 16.9square mile s (43.7km² ), of which, 16.8 square miles (43.5 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.2 km²) of it (0.53%) is water.Demographics
As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 18,067 people, 6,505 households, and 4,846 families residing in the town. Thepopulation density was 1,075.7 people per square mile (415.5/km²). There were 6,653 housing units at an average density of 396.1/sq mi (153.0/km²). The racial makeup of the town in 2005 was 85.86% White, 1.91% African American, 0.26% Native American, 4.58% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 3.20% from other races or of multiple races.
