Hammond Square, formerly Hammond Square Mall, is a lifestyle center/power center in Hammond, Louisiana, and is located on SW Railroad Ave. and is off I-12.At first the mall was an enclosed three-level enclosed mall. JCPenney, Sears, and D.H. Holmes (later Dillard's) were the mall's first anchor stores. J.C. Penney later closed and left the mall and moved to Covington, Louisiana. The mall was owned by Sizeler Properties. Sizeler sold the mall to Covington based company Stirling Properties. The mall is currently going under redevelopment and it plans to reopen with two new anchors. J.C. Penney is planning to reopen in October 2008 and Target plans to open in the summer of 2009. The mall will soon have 60 new stores and a new food court. Dillard's is also planning to expand from its normal size from convert|70000|sqft|m2 to convert|101000|sqft|m2.
