Time Air Sweden

Time Air Sweden

Time Air Sweden was an airline based in Sweden that operated from March 1991 until February 1993.

Company History

Time Air Sweden began as an Air Taxi operation in March 1991 and soon began air charter operations with a Boing 737-200 acquitted from Transwede for charter flights to the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands. As demand for charter flights increased, Boeing 737-300 aircraft were acquited and also two Douglas DC-8-71. One of the DC-8s was configured for cargo only and was used to ferry cargo to India on behalf of Air India.

In March 1992 the name was changed to Air Sweden and further B737-200s and 300s were acquired. To increase capacity a Lockheed L-1011 was leased for the route to the Canary Islands. Overcapacity and the costs of maintaining such a diverse fleet, combined with poor winter charter demand brought financial losses to Air Sweden. Consolidation among Sweden charter operators left Air Sweden without enough passengers for the 1993 season and as a result operations ceased in February 1993 and Time Air Sweden was liquidated.
